Welling Court Mural Project - Kayapo

This mural is dedicated to the Kayapo People of the Xingu River in Brazil who have been fighting to keep their way of life for over 20 years against powerful corporate forces. The government of Brazil and Eletronorte are constructing the Belo Monte Dam on the Xingu River which will flood the villages and way of life of the over 20,000 Indigenous people who live there. There was never a Free, Informed and Prior Consent from the tribes to approve the dam project.
For more information and how to get involved go here: http://culturesofresistance.org/xingu
and go here: http://www.internationalrivers.org/campaigns/belo-monte-dam

The Kayapo People call themselves Mebengokre which means Well Spring People.
